Plan Early, Avoid Delays
Visa processing can take weeks, and World Cup demand is expected to push application volumes higher than usual. Begin the process 3-4 months before you travel — and even earlier if your nationality typically faces longer processing times.
The rules differ for each host nation, and several changed recently, so always confirm the current requirements for your passport before you book. Rather than decoding government portals and joining embassy queues, the fastest way to sort this is CricketVision's official visa partner, Atlys: enter your passport and destination, see exactly what you need in minutes, then apply from your phone and track everything in real time.
South Africa Visa Requirements
Visa-free entry (up to 90 days)
Citizens of the UK, USA, most EU nations, Australia, Canada, and many others can enter South Africa for tourism without a visa. You just need a valid passport — no application required.
Visa or online authorisation required
Some nationalities, including Indian and Pakistani passport holders, need to arrange entry before travelling. India now has access to South Africa's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) and eVisa systems, so many Indian travellers can apply online rather than visiting an embassy. Pakistani nationals generally still apply through a South African diplomatic mission.
Fees and processing times vary by nationality and change regularly, so treat any figure you read as a rough guide only. To skip the guesswork, run your passport through Atlys — it confirms exactly what applies to you and walks you through any required application online, with no embassy visit needed where an e-option exists.
Zimbabwe and Namibia
Many visitors base themselves in South Africa and add a side trip to Zimbabwe (for Victoria Falls) or Namibia. Both countries updated their entry rules recently, so check carefully before you go. See our Namibia travel guide and Zimbabwe guide for region-specific planning.
Zimbabwe: Most visitors need a visa. A single-entry tourist visa costs roughly US$30-55 depending on nationality, and the KAZA UniVisa (covering Zimbabwe and Zambia) is about US$50. Many nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival, but some — including Indian passport holders — must apply for an eVisa in advance at evisa.gov.zw.
Namibia: As of April 2025, Namibia requires a visa for many nationalities that previously entered visa-free, including the UK, USA, Germany, Australia, and India. A tourist visa on arrival costs NAD 1,600 (around US$90) for non-African travellers and is valid for up to 90 days. You can apply in advance or pay at designated ports of entry, though arranging it ahead of time is more reliable.
Requirements for both countries depend on your nationality, and getting it wrong at the border can cost you a match. Check your eligibility for all three host nations in one place and start your application with Atlys below — before demand peaks.
